In the winter of 2019-20, RinkWatch launched a pilot project called the "Sentinel Rink" network. RinkWatch participants in strategic locations across North America worked with a dedicated project assistant to collect detailed daily information about skating conditions. Doing so helps us learn more about the many site-specific characteristics that affect rinks, as well as how precipitation and extreme weather events affect skating conditions. At the end of the skating season, participants receive a customized report containing their rink's data, along with a report summarizing conditions across the other Sentinel Rinks. Participants also receive cool swag for their family. To join the Sentinel Rink program for next winter, please text or send an email to rinkwatchproject@gmail.com.
